i try not to watch a tremendous amount of television — Ugly Betty & old episodes of Will & Grace being exceptions — but i was insistently told to check out Gossip Girl by my Girl Friday and let me tell you, IT IS FABULOUS. it’s a sort of frivilous teen drama in the vein of a 90210 or The OC, but with WAY better clothes and updated to fit contemporay standards of petty cruelty and exaggerated bitchiness. the clothes are HIGH fashion; LUXURY bags, lots of color, great shoes, and a really cute mixing and matching of texture which is fun to see on TV. it all takes place in Manhattan and most of the characters are fabulously wealthy high society princes and princesses. it’s just getting started and it already shames most of the teen dramas we’ve had since i was old enough stay up until 9. i mean 90210 was great TV when I was in 7th grade, but even then i wondered why Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin with all of their cash dressed like two dumpy tourists with mom jeans on. Gossip Girl is on the new CW Wednesdays @ 9pm.
